If your setup is dialed in and you don't have a meet coming up, you're not losing much of anything by doing touch and go like that. If you come to a pause with the plates on the ground but the slack is still pulled out (as TnG should be), you're just skipping the setup. If you happen to be using bands or chains and are trying to overload your lockout, this is a completely valid style of deadlift training, since you don't care about the bottom of the movement at that point anyway. This is cheating by any other name, but even cheat reps have their place sometimes. If you bounce the weight at all or otherwise have momentum going into the next rep, you're basically working at a small surplus, like 1" blocks. ![]() It depends how you're performing touch and go.
